Press Release Summary: Profanity-Free Hip Hop Artist "Sance"Conducts Workshop
At Pace University Conference
Laid To Rest? The N-Word and Other Language of "Dissed" Respect

Press Release Body: Sance, the dynamic young rising star from The TFD Records will
appear at the Pace University Drive-In Conference entitled- Laid To Rest? The N-Word
and Other Language of "Dissed" Respect. The theme of the conference is to promote
intellectual discourse about what is arguably the most infamous word in American
culture. "I am working diligently to create a forum to educate, unite and uplift
those within the African Diaspora concerning what is possibly the ugliest racial
slur ever created", states conference organizer Shanelle Henry Robinson, Director,
Office of Diversity Programs, Pace University.

Sance whose recently released debut album 2829 is not only free of the N-Word, Sance
only uses Profanity-Free lyrics. "I was raised and nurtured by women who taught me
to not only respect women but to also have self respect about ones self. I grew up
in a household where the N-word and other Profanity were not tolerated" states
Sance. "My mission is to revive Hip Hop into its original soulfulness". Sance's
album provides his audience, meaningful lyrical interpretations of the myriad of
challenges throughout life's journey.

Although of lately, there has been a furor concerning the N-word and Profanity in
some forms of music, we can see that the message has not taken root yet as evidenced
by the two top selling Hip Hop albums by Kanye West and 50 Cent, which both have the
N-word and Profanity throughout. With that in mind, Sance states "this conference is
long overdue and open discussion with the Hip Hop consumer is the only way that we
can effectively lay the N-word and other "dissed" language to rest".

There are many misconceptions regarding Hip Hop culture. It all began in the 1970's,
predominantly by African Americans and Hispanics, and helped an entire generation of
kids deal with poverty, lack of job training and racial tensions. Hip Hop actually
has four founding elements: the art of rapping, graffiti, dee-jaying and
break-dancing, which has evolved from what we once thought of as a fad to what we
now know has become a lifestyle and culture. Practitioners such as the Last Poets,
through powerful spoken words, addressed issues that they hoped would help and/or
change the thinking of their peers and encourage them to live their dreams.

Sance is a throwback from that era, and is upset at the present state of Hip Hop and
the many false labels associated with it. During his workshop, "The Power of Labels
in Hip Hop", Sance will address the current state of Hip Hop today. "This is our
culture. our lives, our dreams and our future. It's up to us as a community to
facilitate change" says Sance. In preparation for "The Power of Labels in Hip Hop",
Sance has prepared a game for his audience that will introduce them to the
devastations of utilizing inappropriate and demeaning names when dealing with or
addressing another human being. Sance doesn't use the N-Word. By using common words
associated with Hip Hop Music; then demonstrating how these same words can change
the way you view yourself and your life -he will show you why.

The day-long Pace University conference schedule includes a panel discussion
moderated by Michaela Angela Davis (former executive fashion and beauty editor of
ESSENCE magazine); special guest speakers; a book-signing by author Jabari Asim
(author of, \"THE N WORD: WHO CAN SAY IT, WHO SHOULDN\'T AND WHY\"); a poem by Autum
Ashante' (the 8-yr old Poet Extraordinaire); a vendor fair; and workshops like "The
Power of Labels in Hip Hop".
